The difference between V-by-One and LVDS:
coding:
1. LVDS signal does not need to be encoded;
2. VBO adopts 8B/10B encoding, which is better compatible with other high-speed serial lines such as PCIExpress and USB3.0. Converting 8Bit data to 10Bit data can effectively solve the DC balance.
Transmission rate:
To process 1080P 30bit color and 240Hz refresh rate signals, LVDS requires 48 pairs of signal lines, while VBO only requires 8 pairs of signal lines. Effectively reduce wire cost and save PCB space.
Coupling method
1. LVDS signal is DC-coupled. DC-coupling provides a direct connection path for the signal, so all the components (AC&DC) of the signal will be transmitted to the receiving end.
2. VBOE adopts AC coupling. For AC coupling, a capacitor is connected in series between the signal sending end and the receiving end, so that the DC component of the signal is isolated. The cutoff frequency depends on the size of the coupling capacitor, and the low-frequency AC component of the signal will also be blocked. Great attenuation, but the AC component of the high-frequency signal can still pass well. Therefore, high-speed serial signals generally adopt AC coupling.
